NEW YORK, — The new line Meridian line of Yachts was introduced August 8 in New York Harbor by William J. Barrington, president of the company. According to a press release from Brunswick Corp., which owns the Meridian line, Barrington served as master of ceremonies for a large crowd of dignitaries, media and leading Meridian dealers who will represent the line across the country.
Attending the event were George W. Buckley, chairman and chief executive officer of Brunswick Corp., and Dustan E. McCoy, president of the Brunswick Boat Group.
The Meridian line will feature seven models from 34 to 58 feet, including pilothouse, sedan and aft-cabin designs. On display at the introduction were Meridian's 341 Sedan, 381 Sedan, 411 Aft Cabin, 540 Pilothouse and 580 Pilothouse. According to the release, all Meridian models will be equipped with the Docking on Command (trademarked) system. The system is operated by a joystick control at the helm, and reportedly makes docking eaiser, particularly in tight areas.
"Today's launch of Meridian is proof again that Brunswick is the global leader in the marine industry," Buckley told the crowd. "Every day at Brunswick, we seek new ways to better our companies and the markets in which we participate. In many ways we are constantly pushing the edge of the proverbial envelope, taking a look at the marine industry and asking what could be, rather than being content to work with what is."
